| Sexual Harrassment |
WV National Guard
The following behaviors constitute sexual harassment:
- Rape
or attempted rape (sexual assault).
- Attempts
to brush up or touch a person.
- Unwelcome
touching or other physical contact.
- Pressure
for dates or sexual activity.
- Verbal
or written comments of a sexual or a harassing nature including graffiti.
- Sexual
name-calling, including homophobic reference.
- Gestures,
jokes, pictures, obscenities, or leers.
- Blocking
movement or stalking.
- Overly
personal observations.
- Impeding
a student's progress in class by hiding materials, making fun of the
student because of sex, or excluding the student from instructional
materials.
- One
sex dressing up like the other sex with the intent to belittle or
make fun of body parts.
Behaviors
we might see from a girl who is being sexually harassed:
- She
may attempt to avoid the person harassing her.
- She
may avoid certain places at school.
- She
may change their seat in class.
- She
may stop attending certain activities.
- She
may change a group of friends.
- She
may change her route to and from school.
What
she may be feeling:
- Embarrassed
- Self-conscious
- Less
confident
- Afraid
- Doubtful
about a healthy romantic relationship.
- Confused
- Less
popular
- More
popular
