Addessing Hate

Terrorism, Grief / Loss, Racism

Addressing terrorism may be unfamiliar for many professionals working with girls. Prior to September 11, 2001, it was not a common issue in America. The tragedy of September 11, the fears as a result of it, and the issues of safety are now significant issues for girls. They are trying to make sense of the events as all of America is.

The recent terrorist events may bring forth unresolved grief issues. Many girls have experienced loss and never had guidance or support in accepting their loss.

Racism continues as an area that needs to be addressed. Girls need to understand the impact of racism as well as ways to combat it.
