Simple Tips for Saying No

Denise Chrisman

  1. Be Assertive. Say no and mean it. Having sex is YOUR choice and ONLY your choice. You have the right to say no.

  2. Avoid the Situation. If possible, avoid situations when you may be pressured. Avoid activities that put you alone and away from others.

  3. Walk Away. If you're saying "no" and he's not listening, it's time to go home. Leave before things get too heated.

  4. Repeat Repeat Repeat. You make sound like a broken record - that's ok.

  5. Give an Excuse. Tell him you're not ready, tell him you have to go home, tell him you do not want to have sex.

  6. Change the Subject. More appropriately, change the activity. It's time to go find friends, go for a walk, or go home, etc.

  7. Stick with Friends. If you are feeling pressured to have sex, arrange activities where other people are around.
