Girls Circle
www.girlscircle.com
The
objective of this activity is to enhance self esteem by showing appreciation
for each other as well as receiving compliments.
Materials
needed: blank paper (heavy weight will work better) and markers.
- Tell
the girls that this is and activity in which they can express one
appreciation for each member of the group, using flower creations.
- Hand
one blank sheet of construction paper to each girl. Have each girl
draw a circle in the middle of the paper, about two inches in diameter.
Have the girls write her name in the circle. This will be the center
of her flower.
- Next,
draw the petals. There should be the same number of petals around
the center of the flower, as there are people in the whole group,
not counting the girl herself.
- Have
the girls cut out the flower to make the flower with petals shape.
- Have
the girls pass their flowers to the person on their left. When they
receive a flower with another girls name in the center, invite them
to think about one specific appreciation for that person and to write
that appreciation down on one of the petals of the flower.
- Encourage
the girls to say specific appreciations and to avoid physical appearance
comments. What is special about this person?
- Continue
passing the flowers so that each girl can write and appreciation on
each flower.
- Collect
the flowers and pass them back to the girls as they leave.
