The Gender Specific Resource Manual is the result
of the efforts of the North Carolina State Advisory Committee
for Gender Specific Services. The Advisory Committee is
comprised of a group of professionals who have recognized the
need for gender specific services and training and have
experience in delivering such services. The manual was written
and compiled by Denise Chrisman.
*New Activities can be found in Relationships, Self-Esteem,
and Spirituality.
This
manual is designed to be a desktop reference for providers of
services to girls. This manual will explore research supporting
the need for gender specific services.
-
It includes statistics that support the need for gender
specific services,
-
It highlights the risk and protective factors that lead
to delinquency, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and
other negative outcomes, and
-
It includes activities that service providers can use to
enhance protective factors in the lives of the girls
with whom they work.
The
ladybug motif used throughout this manual represents good luck. As
you use the exercises and activities in this manual, our hope is
that you will bring good luck to the lives of adolescent girls.
To view parts of the manual, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
