Guidebooks for Youth and Parents

The Guidebook:

was written in conjunction with the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office, DJJDP, and the Office of the North Carolina Attorney General. We hope this guide will help give readers a better understanding of how the juvenile code works, and how DJJDP is working to ensure public safety, build prevention programs for young people and spur community leaders across our state to work together to put children first.

The Handbook:

is a handbook created by the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office to help inform middle and high school students about their rights and responsibilities. This handbook will answer many questions youths and parents may have as well as provide sources for additional information. This handbook was made possible with the support of federal funds. You may download and print these documents from our website, but if you would like a bound copy of these two publications, you may contact:

Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office
1319 Mail Service Center
Raleigh, NC 27699-1319
(919) 733-9296

Staff from the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office can also assist you with issues that are of a non-delinquent nature such as school problems, substance abuse, health and teenage pregnancy, and social issues.
