Training Center
The DJJDP training center is located in Butner, NC on West "E" Street. Butner is located in Granville County, northeast of Durham on I-85. The training center occupies three buildings within a DHHS office complex. The Lathan classroom building has three large training rooms and one smaller conference room.
Upon arrival at the DJJDP Training Center, you will notice parking spaces in the gravel lot adjacent to and behind the Lathan Building. If you park in the parking spaces reserved for the Town of Butner offices (Building C), located next to the Lathan Building, your car may be ticketed or towed by the Town Manager
Depending on room set up, the classrooms can hold as many as forty people, the conference room around fifteen.
A map of the area, directions, floor plans of the building and room layouts for training rooms are available by fax and may be requested from Marty Brown at (919) 575-3194.
Housing is provided at a local hotel in Butner, either the Holiday Inn Express or the Ramada Inn Limited located off of Interstate 85, Exit 191 on West Lyon Station Road, in Creedmoor, NC. Meals at Training Center in Butner will be on a per diem basis.
Medical Care at the Training Center
First Aid kits are available in the Lathan Building in the manager's office. Basic first aid should be provided by the most highly trained person present at the time, participant or instructor. Emergency medical services are provided by Butner Public Safety. Injured persons who do not require emergency transport should be taken to Durham County General Hospital. To get to the hospital, take I-85 to Durham, exit at North Duke Street and follow signs to the hospital.
If a training participant becomes ill, the participant may leave training and go home for treatment or may call and make an appointment to see a doctor at South Granville Primary Care (575-6103) or Butner Creedmoor Family Medicine (528-1535).
South Granville Primary Care is on Central Avenue near the hardware store. Butner Creedmoor Family Medicine is off NC 56 behind the Pizza Hut near the Dutch Village Shopping Center.

Grocery Store/Drug Store/Dutch Village Shopping Center
Turn right on to Central Avenue. At the stoplight turn left on to East C Street. Travel 1 mile. After crossing railroad tracks, onto NC 56, go past the I-85 overpass. You'll find the grocery store to your right in the Dutch Village Shopping Center. There is also a drug store, a dollar store and a Chinese restaurant in this shopping center.

• Credit Union ATM is across from Murdoch Center on East C Street..
• Suntrust Bank Corner of Central Avenue and East C Street.
• Fidelity Bank just past Dutch Village Shopping Center on NC 56. (ATM)
Meals/Restaurants/Fast Food
Central Avenue Turn right on to Central Avenue from "E" Street. You'll find China Town on the right, Bob's Pizza on the left, the Home Plate on C Street as well as the BBQ Barn on B Street and convenience store fast food.
"C" Street/I-85 Exit/NC 56
Turn right on to Central Avenue, left at stoplight at "C" Street. Travel approx. 1 mile to the NC 56 Interstate 85 Exit. You'll find all types of fast food at or near the exit: Hardee's, Wendy's, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Chinese, B-B-Q, etc.
Video Rentals
On Central Avenue, near Bob's Pizza is a video rental store, "Movie Express". Phone # 575-6440.
Gas for State Vehicles
The closest state gas pump is at Umstead Hospital. Turn left out of the training center on to West "E" Street. Go to the end of the street and turn right on 12th Street. Go one block on 12th and then bear left on to "H" Street at the John Umstead Hospital sign. Turn right on to 9th Street. Pump is approximately one block down on the right.
