OPEN/net: Internet Safety

On March 4, 2007, the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention-Center for the Prevention of School Violence (DJJDP-Center) will appear on OPEN/net to discuss Internet Safety.  The call-in program on the Agency for Public Television will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will provide parents, and community members, with the opportunity to discuss internet safety.  Among other topics to be discussed will be recognizing the signs of cyberbullying and how parents can help their children respond appropriately to this issue.  DJJDP-Center Manager, William Lassiter, will be participating in the panel discussion.

Lassiter stated, “The internet is a powerful tool for our kids to use to do research and to learn new skills, but unfortunately it has a dark side also.  This program will help to expose that dark side so that parents can be better aware of ways to prevent their children from getting hurt through their online experiences."
